On these pages you will first learn a little more about me (Hanno Fecke) and about my French colleague Caroline Ulitschz.
More about my collaboration with the psychologist Hedda Janssen and the leadership trainer Barbara Hölscher-Busam find out here.
Hanno Fecke
I believe that the most beautiful thing that can happen to us in our professional lives is to discover our own calling, perhaps even the “purpose of existence” (ZdE).
Since 2014, I have been coaching people who are looking for fulfillment and even more success in their professional lives.
Calling and passion to create one’s own “mission” has a lot to do with the most important needs in life.
Of the 6 greatest needs (6 human needs according to Tony Robbins), two needs are particularly strong in most people.
For me, it was the need for “significance” and “variety” that shaped my career path for a long time.
Which ones are they for you?
“Significance” and “variety” are a combination that can make you a TV entertainer or even a president, but probably not a pope or a finance minister.
After studying in Berlin and spending several years abroad in Lyon, Taipei and Singapore, I became marketing manager in international trade fair construction in Hamburg.
Trade fair manager
Later, I became head of a privately owned trade fair company in Northern Germany, with a leading international trade fair that attracted worldwide attention.
It developed so wonderfully that after 8 years I was invited to run for the German Bundestag.
But unfortunately, I didn't become president, I became unemployed.
This was followed by coaching training and a second assignment as trade fair manager: this time in Baden-Württemberg at a municipal trade fair company.
Low point of my career
Then I was surprised by the absolute low point of my career: after an extension of my probationary period, I was not hired as head of the trade fair. A municipal administration probably has a greater need for "security" and "connection."
So there I was, with many years of business and leadership experience as a marketing professional who speaks fluent English and French, and I asked myself, “What do I do now?”
Coaching seemed like the right choice for me. After all, I had leadership experience, strong communication skills, and extensive coaching training.
My self-employment was initially a flop
"But who," I asked myself, "would want to be coached by a hapless ex-manager?" I was no longer interested in applying for a job as a trade fair director. Could you make a living from coaching? In the midst of this self-doubt, I then offered a sailing and coaching trip on Facebook.
And then my world changed
I had three participants unusually quickly. Then I trained intensively and developed a very complex coaching and training plan. My first clients, a doctor, a sales manager, and a concentration coach, were absolutely thrilled with the one-week Baltic Sea trip.
Since then, I've conducted 19 such coaching trips in collaboration with various business partners. The destinations were Greece, Sicily, the Caribbean, and Croatia. The participants were so inspired that I suddenly no longer had any questions about whether I was a good coach.
A pull for further development
As a result, I became a magnet for people seeking professional and personal development. Last year (2020), I worked over 1 hours as a coach. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, we also traveled to Croatia and the Caribbean with prior testing and hygiene measures in place. Together with other coaches, we developed a webinar series called "Happiness and Leadership" for people transitioning to the first level of management.
Happiness Training Academy
We are currently working on the “Happiness Training Academy” and in parallel, my first book is being written: “The Art of Happiness” (The art of creating your own happiness).
When I look back today, I can assign a completely different meaning to my supposed “failure” as head of the trade fair.
Contribution and growth
The need for "significance" is no longer as important to me. The need for "growth" or to "contribute" has gained in importance.
My greatest joy today is the personal development of my customers:
That one of my clients becomes successfully self-employed or someone gets their dream job.
That self-employed people and business owners find in me a sparring partner for their professional and entrepreneurial development.
My lectures about “happiness” or about “the joy of failure.”
When the coronavirus crisis imposed so many restrictions on all of us in 2020, our coaching business initially collapsed. But then this crisis, too, became a powerful engine for innovation and change. Suddenly, a huge question arose for online coaching.
And at the beginning of 2021, we took the step and embarked on a very long journey.
Working as a digital nomad and traveling through Europe and Africa became possible,
Now at the beginning of 2023, we have been on the road for almost two years.
An exciting video blog titled "The Art of Happiness".
And as I write these lines, the sun is slowly setting in the Moroccan Vor-Artlag Mountains. We are standing self-sufficient with a jeep and caravan in a small town called Tafraout, Marokko. Tomorrow I am looking forward to an interesting day of online coaching.
Doing what really means something to you
For me, it's a success when someone has the courage to quit a job they don't like. And my experience of "failure" makes me much more empathetic these days towards people who are in a similar situation.
I know how you feel because I felt the same way.
And I believe that my own story can also inspire other people to get up again and reinvent themselves.
In the end, I think I can say, everything will be fine, even if it doesn't seem that way at the time.
Caroline Ulitzsch
I've always been passionate about the Franco-German friendship. Therefore, I studied law in both France and Germany, with a focus on European law. This was followed by many years of successful work in French and European administrations as a legal advisor and EU auditor. Inspired by numerous continuing education courses and a growing desire to help others, I finally decided to make a fundamental change in my life, partly with the help of a coach.
Professionally, I have decided to dedicate myself to an area in which I can fully utilize my skills and knowledge to support other people, especially in making intentional or unintentional life changes, and to lead them to success more easily and effectively.
My offer
I help people with special challenges, including health-related ones, find their path to a fulfilling and happy life. Together with my clients, I seek and find that one "key" that allows them to be successful professionally and personally despite certain limitations.
I founded a coaching company specifically for people who want to achieve and experience fundamental change. I want to pass on my knowledge, insights, and methods I've gained about life transformation to others.
My story
I have spent a large part of my life with illness and disability and have therefore often had to fight for myself, both in my everyday life and especially in my professional activities.
I deliberately say "fought through it" because I always wanted to be treated equally, to be "normal"... and this despite my walking disability, pain, and other discomforts. While it was obvious that something was physically wrong, the associated suffering was barely noticeable inside, because I still tried to smile and radiate positivity most of the time.
But I also developed enormous creativity to adapt and endure everything, and this ultimately allowed me to continue to move up in my career despite all the adversities, until I finally couldn't take it anymore.
A new Start
During my previous professional career, I had already begun attending personal development seminars and reading books about the power of our minds. I then applied this knowledge to my own life, making important decisions, taking the necessary actions, and meeting many wonderful people in the process.
Thanks in part to the help of a coach, I was initially able to achieve significant health and professional improvements. I was able to achieve my transformation primarily through a change in mindset and inner attitude. I was finally able to conduct seminars again, go out with friends, and simply do many things without suffering.
Qualified training and a new professional start as a certified coach have completed this phase of development, combined with the deep desire to pass on everything that ultimately saved me.
My coaching activities were very successful right from the start. I was finally out of the tunnel, with a new life, free of pain, and a job where I could develop and help my clients.
A setback... and a new life
Then one morning I woke up and suddenly saw double. That was my first attack. A few days later, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
This was, of course, a new blow, which initially hit me hard. Further attacks followed, and my active coaching career was temporarily suspended.
Thanks to the knowledge and skills I had acquired as a coach, I was able to act with more confidence and determination this time. With the tools I had gained, as well as the help of another coach, I was able to get back on my feet and thus achieve something like a mental fresh start and, ultimately, the longed-for "new life."
Since this transformation, I have taken a lot of time to simply enjoy life, to live consciously, to develop new and important projects for myself, and to make dreams come true that were unthinkable for me just a few years ago.
Sailing and coaching in the Caribbean
For example, I successfully completed and completed training as a yoga and meditation teacher in the Bahamas. I also trained as a massage therapist and subsequently worked as one in the Bahamas, creating the product "Massage and Coaching." I then practiced coaching on a sailboat in the Caribbean and hiked for weeks in the Canadian Rockies.
